In 1986, Ernest Goes to Camp was filmed at Montgomery Bell State Park. On June 8, 2024, celebrate the genius that is Ernest for the Official Ernest Day Event!
There will be a day of fun activities planned. Be sure to bring items to be autographed by actors from the Ernest Franchise! A list of actors will be posted closer to the Event day.
From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. the following will take place:
- Birds of Prey Program:
2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.
3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
4:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.
5:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. - Free temporary tattoos and stickers, while supplies last. Stay tuned for updates regarding Face painting.
- Turtle Catapulting
- Nature Hikes*:
2 p.m.- 3 p.m.,
3:30 pm. – 4: 30 p.m.
5 p.m. – 6 p.m. - Archery*
- Canoeing*

That evening, enjoy the Ernest Look Alike Contest and hear from actors from the Ernest Franchise.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. the “Ernest Goes To Camp” movie will be shown outside at the film’s location! Bring a blanket or chair and make yourself comfortable and watch the movie under the stars.
The Event is free, however donations are always accepted! Food Trucks will be available on site and official Ernest Day t-shirts will also be available while supplies last.
