The Music in the Park concert series for August will feature a special night of homegrown talent and heartfelt tunes from four local musicians.

Presented by the Dickson Parks and Recreation Department, the free concert series consists of live music performances on the stage of Holland Park on the second Friday of each month during the summer.

The Aug. 8 concert features four of Dickson County’s favorite musicians – Emily Blankenship, Cory Williams, Jason Pilkinton and Tyler Lowery. The free concert is 6:00-8:00 pm in downtown Dickson next door to the Clement Railroad Hotel Museum.

“The August concert presents a music-in-the-round format that promises an evening of laughter, stories and familiar songs at sunset,” said Nikki Holland, program coordinator for the parks department. “These seasoned performers will share the stage, swapping songs and trading harmonies as they take the audience through a mix of well-loved covers and a few of their originals.”

With musical roots that stretch back to the 1990s, the individual players are familiar to many area residents and have dubbed themselves “Old News,” reflecting the timeless appeal of their music.

“Whether you’ve followed them for years or are hearing them for the first time, you won’t want to miss this night of local talent, community spirit and good music in the heart of downtown Dickson,” Holland said. “Bring a chair or a blanket and settle in for a summer night to remember.”
