Chief Seth Lyles and the City of Dickson proudly welcome Officer Timothy Simmons to the City of Dickson Police Department.
Officer Simmons is a graduate of Leilehua High School in Hawaii (Class of 1991). Shortly after graduating, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he attended basic military training and the law enforcement academy at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas (October 1991 – February 1992). He served 10 years on active duty, performing roles as a base entry controller, patrolman, accident investigator, desk sergeant, and K9 handler.
Following his active-duty service, Officer Simmons joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve IMA program, continuing to serve as a K9 handler and shift sergeant until he was recalled to active duty in April 2002. After completing his orders, he worked as a contractor with the U.S. State Department as a K9 handler for its high-threat protection program in war zones.
In January 2012, Officer Simmons joined the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a corrections officer, transport deputy, bailiff, patrolman, and K9 handler. In May 2025, he transitioned from the Sheriff’s Office to the City of Dickson Police Department where he will serve as a School Resource Officer in one of our city schools.
