Cracker Barrel has sold the majority of its Maple Street Biscuit Company business to Biscuit Belly, LLC, as the Lebanon-based company focuses more closely on its core restaurant brand. More Eat & Drink News
The transaction includes the Maple Street Biscuit Company trademark and assets used at 35 locations. Biscuit Belly plans to convert those restaurants to the Biscuit Belly brand over the next 18 to 24 months. The Maple Street Biscuit locations in Brentwood and Nashville have permanently closed. Signage for the Brentwood location has been removed. On the door, it states, “This Maple Street Biscuit Company is permanently closed. We look forward to serving you at another nearby location.”
The Murfreesboro location will convert to Biscuit Belly in the fourth quarter of this year, Biscuit Belly stated.
With the acquisition, Biscuit Belly will expand across the Southeast and grow the company to more than 60 locations by the end of 2028. Company officials said in a release the deal will allow Biscuit Belly to enter new markets and strengthen its presence in existing areas by using Maple Street’s established locations.
The remaining 16 Maple Street Biscuit Company restaurants that were not included in the sale will close as part of Cracker Barrel’s exit from the business.
Cracker Barrel expects to record approximately $37 million to $39 million in non-cash charges during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026 related to the divestiture. The company also anticipates $6 million to $8 million in additional cash charges associated with closing the remaining locations and exiting the business. Those expenses are expected to be incurred during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026 and fiscal 2027.
Maple Street Biscuit Company accounted for less than 2% of Cracker Barrel’s annual revenue. Company officials said the divestiture is expected to improve adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization beginning in fiscal 2027.
“Divesting Maple Street sharpens our focus on the core Cracker Barrel brand and is expected to improve profitability,” Cracker Barrel President and CEO Julie Masino said in a release.
Cracker Barrel acquired Maple Street Biscuit Company in 2019. The restaurant concept is known for its biscuits, breakfast dishes, and Southern-inspired comfort food.
