Students were safely evacuated from a school bus in Dickson County after a possible mechanical issue prompted an emergency response Thursday.

According to Tennessee City Fire Rescue, crews from Engine 51 came across a Dickson County school bus around 3:30 p.m. with what appeared to be a rear brake fire while returning to the station.

Firefighters quickly assessed the situation and made sure all students were safely evacuated, moving them to a nearby parking lot away from traffic along Highway 70.

Additional support, including a tanker unit, was called in as a precaution. After a thorough inspection using thermal imaging cameras, crews determined there was no active fire.
