Betty Elaine Adams Forkum, 93, of White Bluff, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
Betty Forkum is preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-eight years, Hubert Forkum Jr. Hubert Forkum passed in July 2024, just five months before Betty. Their sixty-ninth wedding anniversary would have been celebrated two weeks ago. Betty lived in her home until her passing.
Betty Elaine Adams Forkum was born in Benton, LA. She was raised in Desoto Parrish.
She graduated from Mansfield High School in 1948. She went on to study at a two-year secretarial program. Betty Forkum is the oldest of eight siblings born to Ira and Luella Adams of Louisiana.
Betty Forkum was preceded in death by three siblings, Harold Adams of Texas, Sue Little of Louisiana, and Mona Troutman of Louisiana.
In 1955 Betty met Hubert Forkum in Louisiana on a blind date. They were married on November 24, 1955, in Louisiana. Hubert and Betty Forkum moved to Nashville in 1956. In 1966 Hubert and Betty moved to White Bluff to raise their family and remained in the same house until their deaths. Betty professed her faith in Jesus while living in Louisiana. Hubert and Betty were members of the White Bluff Church of Christ and worshipped there for over fifty-eight years.
In 1972 Betty went to work at the Federal Land Bank in Dickson. She worked there as a Certified Professional Secretary until her retirement in 1994. Betty especially loved to spend time with her family and was so proud of all of them. She had several hobbies during her life including sewing, quilting, gardening, traveling, and reading. Betty also loved to solve crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Betty’s passion for serving the Lord and doing God’s work will be remembered by all that knew her. Her wit and conversations will be greatly missed.
Betty Forkum is survived by four children: Mike Forkum of White Bluff, Mark Forkum (Sasha) of Phoenix, AZ, Steve Forkum of Bolivar, and Laura Crowe (Don) of Memphis. In addition, Hubert and Betty have six grandsons; Adrian Forkum (Megan), Luke Forkum, Nikolas Forkum, Alex Forkum, Donald Crowe (Kaity), and Matthew Crowe, two granddaughters; Lydia Forkum and Elizabeth Crowe, and one great-grandson Brayden Forkum. She is also survived by four siblings, Martha Davis of Texas, Lynda Pharis of Louisiana, Jim Adams of Louisiana, and Mary Weir of Louisiana.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Brother Doug Couch will officiate. Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 pm until time of service. Internment will be at the Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery. https://taylorsince1909.com
