Donna Estelle Akers, age 77, of Dickson, TN, passed away on May 18, 2025 at NHC Dickson surrounded by her family.
She was born in Forrest City, Arkansas and was the beloved daughter of the late John Mick and Vivian Mick.
Donna dedicated her career to the dental field, serving as a practice manager for multiple dentists in the Belle Meade, Nashville and Dickson areas. Her expertise and commitment even helped launch a practice from the ground up. Beyond her professional achievements, she found great joy tending to her flower garden, cooking, and baking for friends and family. Her greatest love, however, was spending time with her family and cherished grandbabies.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers and friends who provided support and kindness over the years, especially LaRosa Neena, Gayle Work, Patricia Lee, Jessica Dugan, and Heather Garvin and to the warm, comforting care provided by the staff at NHC in Dickson, and the many, many blessings of tender care from the Gentiva Hospice personnel.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 30 years, Curtis Akers of Dickson, TN; sons, Steve Akers (Cathy) of Columbia, TN, Michael Smith of Lewisburg; daughters, Julie Hicks (Will) of Dickson, TN, Jennifer Clifton of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, Steve Mick (Karen) of Kokomo, IN, John David Mick (Rosana) of Navarre Beach FL, Larry Mick of Piggot, AR; sister, Linda Burton (Tommy) of Pensacola Beach, FL; 5 grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Presley Clifton, Brian Akers, Drew Hicks, & Justin Hicks and 2 great grandchildren, Emory Smith and Mavis Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the Taylor Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 12: Noon until the time of service. https://taylorsince1909.com
