Ellon Ruth Shelton Cummings, age 82, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, in her home. She passed away at home surrounded by family after an 8-year battle with cancer.
Ellon was born and raised in Dickson County daughter of the late Bascum and Sally Estelle Lee Shelton of Charlotte, Tennessee. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dickson, TN.
She thoroughly loved being a mother and grandmother. She treasured family trips and anything that included time with her two grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time in her yard and garden, growing and collecting a huge variety of plants and flowers. She was an exceptional cook and loved cooking for others. She was a strong-willed, hardworking, and outspoken woman known and loved by many.
Ellon is survived by her two children, Marie Cummings-Payne & John Cummings both of Dickson, TN, and 2 grandchildren Ashley Payne and Ethan Payne of Dickson, TN.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Tommy Marvin will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday beginning at 12 Noon until time of service. Place of rest will be in the Williams Addition of the Dickson Union Cemetery. https://taylorsince1909.com
