Emma Ree Horner passed away on November 9, 2025 at home surrounded by family. Ms. Horner was born February 24, 1948, in Dickson, TN. She was a daughter of the late Larry James “Hambone” Horner and the late Harrace Sally Long Horner.

Emma was a graduate of Charlotte High School. She received her LPN license at Riverside Hospital and worked at Riverside for several years. She later went back to college and received her Registered Nursing license from Columbia State. For many years Emma worked at Goodlark Hospital as a surgery scrub nurse. She also worked at Ford Glass for several years. She was a hard worker and did so to provide for her family until her health declined because of a motor vehicle accident.

Emma loved the Lord, and she loved singing with her gospel group, “The Gospel Flames.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Horner and Charlie B. (Horner) Hogan.

Ms. Emma is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Dione Horner; her son, Aaron Horner; bonus daughters, Stephanie England and Patty Stewart; sisters, Lillie Ann Jones, and Corrine Thomas Vaughn; brothers, Ivan Little John Horner, and Johnny Horner; grandchildren, Braxton Horner, McKenna Horner, Katie Horner, Kyle England, Kingston Horner; great grandchildren, Dominik Luckett, and Ryleigh Luckett. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins in Ohio and Dickson as well as many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at the Taylor Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery on Hortense Road. The visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. https://taylorsince1909.com

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their wonderful care given at both St. Thomas West Hospital and at Horizon Medical Center as well as her home health nurses. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank Mrs. Janice Hamilton, who visited day and night. Words could not express how the family appreciates all the prayers, and expressions of love by each and everyone. Thank you, and we love you all.
