Mr. Gary “Gar” Parnell, 73, of Lobelville, passed away Wednesday March 18, 2026 at TriStar Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. He was born in Lobelville to the late Kenneth Paul Parnell and Velma Mae Smith Parnell Walters. Gary worked for Loretta Lynn for several years selling her T-Shirts at concerts before going to work on the Pipeline. He loved country music, playing drums, fishing, camping and was enjoying his retirement. He was a graduate of Perry County High School Class of 1971.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a sister Diane Parnell and brother-in-law Woody Payne.
Survivors include his wife Shelly Martin Parnell, a daughter Ingrid Parnell and a son Derek Parnell, grandchildren Trevor (Matti) Pevahouse, Maclaine (Makayle) Pevahouse, Cole Yarbro and Case Yarbro, great-grandchildren Anderson James “AJ” Parnell and McKinley Pevahouse, step-daughter Casy Riley, step-son Justin Riley, sister-in-law Nellerene (Jarom Skinner) Payne, aunt Janie Russell, nephew Nolan Payne and many friends and family.
