Mr. Henry Edsel Brown passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at his home.

Born in Dickson County, Edsel was the son of the late Marvin and Bonnie Brown.

He worked for many years as a supervisor for the former Schrader Automotive, a division of Scovill Manufacturing. In addition to being a hard worker, he was an avid fisherman and was very much an outdoorsman in his younger years, especially enjoying fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

Edsel loved growing both vegetable gardens and flower gardens. He always had more produce than he needed and enjoyed sharing with family, friends, and neighbors. He enjoyed canning and was a very good cook as well. He also enjoyed sports, especially baseball. In his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball and was a member of the Burns men’s team in the middle 1950’s.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dale Murphy; a granddaughter, Haley Dale Murphy; daughter-in-law, Darlene Brown; brother, Wayne Brown (Doris); sisters, Dorothy Bateman (Wesley) and Sue Story; and brother-in-law, Johnnie Stamper.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Elaine Brown, Dickson; children, Michael Brown (Laurie) of Charlotte, Kenny Brown (Christina) of Clarksville; Jimmy Murphy (April) of Charlotte; and Terri Rountree (Steven) of Ocean Springs, MS; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Howard Brown (Irene) of Munford, KY and Roy Brown of Alabama; a sister, Jean Stamper of Burns; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Henry Edsel Brown, age 87 of Dickson, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Shouse officiating. Interment will follow in Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 noon until time of service. https://taylorsince1909.com
