James Lester Vaughn, age 91, of Bon Aqua, TN, passed away on June 9, 2025.
James was born in Bon Aqua, TN on December 26, 1933, to the late James Allen Vaughn and Lulor F. Martin Vaughn. James was drafted during the Korean War Era and served in the United States Army; being stationed in Germany. He was the last living Veteran of those drafted with him from Hickman County.
James worked for many years at State Industries as a metal worker. He loved to Coone hunt, gardening and was known for having a green thumb. He enjoyed riding behind the mules in a wagon and working with them and the cows. He was a simple man and farmer with high values. Both of his sons never missed a day of school from kindergarten through graduation because of the ethic he taught them. He was the type of man that always called his neighbors to check on them.
Most of all, he loved his wife, Frances, and would have celebrated their 66th anniversary in August. And he thought the world of his two boys and was extremely proud of the men they have grown to be.
James wanted anyone to attend his funeral to dress comfortably in blue jeans and a white shirt, T-shirt or dress, as long as it is white.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Granville Vaughn, Junior Vaughn, and his sister, Luella Buttrey.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Frances Vaughn of Bon Aqua, TN, his sons, Kevin Vaughn of Hampshire, TN, Devin Vaughn (Rebecca) of Lynnville, TN, grandchildren, Allie Mae Vaughn, Kelsie Madison Vaughn, his brother, Johnie Vaughn of Bon Aqua, TN, his sisters, Frances Bibee of Nashville, TN, Sue Herndon of Bon Aqua, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 11AM from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 4pm until 8pm and on Monday beginning at 10AM until time of service.
