Jerill Anne Cagley, a beacon of nurturing love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at TriStar Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, Tennessee. Born on June 17, 1955, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to the late Jerald Curtis and Agnes Anne (Houdek) Cossaart. Jerill’s life was a testament to the power of unconditional love and the simple joys that create a life well-lived.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by the one and only love of her life, Marc Laird Cagley. A devoted mother and grandmother, is survived by her loving daughters, Holly (Josh) Parsons and Rachel Cagley-Ellis, and her cherished grandchildren, Charlotte and Cruz Parsons. Her spirit will be carried on through her sister, Joleen Byrne, her nephew, Zach, her niece, Denna, and her brother-in-laws, Lee Cagley and Larry Davis. She was a central figure in her family, weaving a tapestry of memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
Her academic journey culminated in earning a Bachelor’s degree, which set a foundation for her true vocation as a homemaker. Jerill’s home was her canvas, and her family was her masterpiece. She poured her heart into creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that welcomed all who crossed its threshold. Her dedication to her home and family was her most cherished work, and her influence was the cornerstone of her family’s lives. Her love for turtles, tulips, and cats was more than a simple preference; it was a reflection of her gentle and nurturing soul. Jerill found beauty and joy in the small wonders of the world, teaching those around her to appreciate life’s simple gifts.
A huge animal lover, Jerill’s compassion knew no bounds. She would often feed the animals before considering her own needs, ensuring that every creature in her care felt loved and nourished. Her home was not just a sanctuary for her family but for all living beings that needed shelter and affection. Jerill’s role as a pageant Grammy revealed her unwavering support and pride in her grandchildren’s endeavors. She was their greatest cheerleader, celebrating every milestone and achievement with genuine joy and enthusiasm. Her presence at these events was a source of encouragement and love, making every moment more special.
Jerill’s family is honoring her wishes for a nonceremonial cremation. There are no services planned at this time.
