Joyce Elaine Tidwell Travis, a beacon of love and faith, passed away, November 1, 2025, at TriStar Horizon Medical Center.
She was born July 5, 1945, in Dickson, TN, to the late Mack and Mattie (Gossett) Tidwell.
Joyce’s life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of a virtuous spirit. Her life was one of dedication and purpose, marked by an unwavering commitment to her Christian faith. She enjoyed genealogy, as it was a bridge that connected generations. She also enjoyed sewing. Joyce was loved by all who knew her. Though she has left this earthly realm, her legacy of warmth, devotion, and unwavering faith will endure forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Travis; sister, Margaret Tipton; brother-in-law, Freddie Tipton; and niece, Catherine Tidwell. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Wanda (Dennis) Petty; brothers, Danny (Joyce) Tidwell and Larry (Margie) Tidwell; grandson, Mark (Shayna) Petty; and a great-granddaughter due in Feb. 2026.
Visitation and Funeral services will be at Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.; and will resume on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Funeral services will be in the Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Jeff Lankford officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Chapel Cemetery.
