Joseph “Joey” Jefferson Parker, III, a beloved figure whose warmth and kindness touched the hearts of many, passed away on December 8, 2024, at the age of 79.

Born on September 19, 1945, Joey lived a life filled with laughter, love, and a deep commitment to his faith and community.

From a young age, Joey was known for his cheerful demeanor and infectious sense of humor. He was a true jokester, bringing smiles to the faces of those around him with his daily jokes that brightened many mornings. His positivity was not just a trait but a way of life, making him a joy to be around. Friends and family remember him as a person who could light up a room with his presence, someone who genuinely cared for others and cherished every moment spent with them.

Joey had a profound love for the outdoors, often finding solace and inspiration in nature. His passion for cooking allowed him to share his love with friends and family, creating delicious meals that became the centerpiece of many gatherings. Music, especially southern gospel, resonated deeply with him, providing a soundtrack for both his reflective moments and joyful celebrations.

At the heart of Joey’s life was his unwavering faith, demonstrated through his active involvement in the Dickson Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He cherished his church family, finding strength and community within its walls. As a passionate supporter of the Gideons Card Program in Dickson County, Joey firmly believed in their mission: “A Bible in every hand, so Jesus can be in every heart.” His commitment to spreading the message of hope and love through this program was a testament to the values he lived.

Joseph “Joey” Jefferson Parker, III, leaves behind not only fond memories but also a legacy of kindness, laughter, and service to others. His spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him, reminding us all to embrace life with joy, to uplift one another, and to stay close to our faith. Joey’s journey may have come to an end, but the love he shared will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Dickson Cumberland Presbyterian Church from 10:00 AM – until time of service. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Dickson Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Bro. Rob Truett, Bro. Steve Lauder, and Bro. Neal Westerman officiating. Interment will follow at Dickson County Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gideons in memory of Joey and his commitment of service to the Gideons and their Bible program.

Lisa Peacock, Doug Ammons, Gary Ammons, Karen Wamsett,
Robert McCoy, and Kenny McCoy, and Cheryl Hart.
As well as his other extended family.
