George Tillman Caudill, age 85, of Dickson, TN, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024.

Mr. Caudill was born in Portland, Tennessee, in Sumner County, to the late William Hampton and Zula Groves Caudill.

He graduated from Portland High School, received his B.A. from David Lipscomb College, then later received his M.A. from Western Kentucky University. In 1960, he married the love of his life Sara Phillips of Greeneville, Alabama on August 28, 1960.

Mr. Caudill was a longtime and faithful Christian. He attended Walnut Street Church of Christ where he served his church as an Elder for 43 years.

Mr. Caudill started his long, productive educational career teaching and coaching at his alma mater, Portland High School. He later served as Principal at Greenbrier High School, Dickson High School, and Dickson County High School. He formerly worked with the Commissioner of Education in several different capacities. In 1990, Mr. Caudill filled the seat as interim Superintendent of Schools in Dickson County by the Dickson County Commission. He was later elected to fill that position and served several years for the Dickson County Board of Education and the citizens of Dickson County with his expertise and knowledge of education and administration. Mr. Caudill was a natural born leader. His legacy will continue to live in the lives of many.

Mr. Caudill is survived by his wife Sara Phillips Caudill of Dickson, TN, his two sons Dr. Max Caudill and his wife Lynn of Franklin, TN and Edward Thomas Caudill and his wife Melinda of Bellevue, TN his brother Charles Hampton Caudill and his wife Katherine of Goodlettsville, TN his six grandchildren Will Caudill (Meghan), Ben Caudill (Alice), Ellie Caudill, Grant Caudill (Grace), Paul Caudill (Katie), Hannah Brewer (Tyne), his great-grandchildren, George Caudill, Wylie Caudill, Max Caudill, Adelyn Caudill, Sam Caudill, Thomas Caudill, Rees Caudill, Norah Brewer, Sally Caudill and Catherine Caudill.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, December 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. from the Walnut Street Church of Christ. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, December 13th from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday beginning at 12 Noon. Place of rest will be in the Williams Addition of the Dickson Union Cemetery. https://taylorsince1909.com

Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the Walnut Street Church of Christ or to World Christian Broadcasting.

Former colleagues, friends and grandchildren will serve as active casket bearers and all current and former Elders of Walnut Street Church of Christ will serve in an honorary capacity.
