Born on April 11, 1926, in Houston County, Tennie Mae Waynick Williams was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. Walter Lee Waynick and Mrs. Tennie Ethel “Lewis” Waynick.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, Leslie “Wilton” Williams, her daughter Patsy “Pat” Williams Halliburton, and her son James “Jimmy” Williams. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Flossie “Waynick” Hagler, Ozell “Waynick” Milam, Ernie Waynick, Bertha “Waynick” King, Illa “Waynick” Gutherie, James Waynick, and Walter Lee Waynick.
Tennie was a member of the Stony Point Freewill Baptist Church, where she was also a Sunday School Teacher in the mid-1960s. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, serving as a board member and hostess. She was treasurer of Averitte Cemetery from its inception. She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom.
Tennie was a spitfire, yet a gentle lady. She found joy in the outdoors, whether tending to her flowers or riding her golf cart. She enjoyed canning and cooking for herself and others, particularly her tomato gravy with biscuits and chicken and dressing. She cherished her family deeply and was the heart of her home—a true matriarch who lived a remarkable 99 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Williams Stanfill, and her husband, Tony Stanfill. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Tammy Williams, Shelly (Ed) Manor, Michael Williams, Jonathan (Kimberly) Halliburton, Daniel (Jamie) Stanfill, Lesleigh (Brad) Averitt, and Taylor Stanfill. She also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, June 2, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Lesleigh “Stanfill” Averitt, her granddaughter, will give her eulogy along with Ricky Vaughn and Brad Averitt assisting in the funeral service and graveside and committal following. Visitation will be held Monday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Place of rest will be in The Averitte Cemetery. https://taylorsince1909.com
