The Dickson County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of a phone scam.

The scammers are using Chief Deputy Teddy Murphy’s name and spoofing the office phone number so it seems legit.

The caller is telling citizens they are in danger of having assets seized if they do not pay a fine in bitcoin. They are walking people step by step through the transaction to help expedite the payment.

Do not give any financial information over the phone. The Sheriff’s Office will not call and demand payment in lieu of legal action.

If you have received a call like this and given anyone money, call the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office and file a report.
