Dickson Police Captain Retires After 30 Years

Congratulations to Captain Kelly Owen upon his retirement from the City of Dickson Police Department.

Captain Owen began his 30 year career with the Dickson Police Department on April 2, 1994.

After completing the department’s FTO Program and graduating from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in September of 1994, Owen was assigned to the Patrol Division. After 6 years as a patrol officer, Owen was promoted to Patrol Corporal in 2000 and was also assigned duties as a Field Training Officer.

Additionally, Owen served on the PD’s Special Response Team (SRT) from 1996 until 2014.

In January 2005, Owen was promoted to detective with the Criminal Investigations Division (CID). Owen was then assigned to the 23rd Drug Task Force in 2006 where he worked as a field agent until 2008.

In 2008, Owen was assigned back to the CID Unit. He continued his career as a detective until 2020 when he was promoted to CID Lieutenant.

In 2021, Owen was promoted to Captain of the Patrol Division. Captain Owen has overseen the largest division of the department from 2021 until his retirement in 2024.

There will be a retirement party to honor Captain Kelly Owen on Wednesday, January 10 from 2pm until 4pm at the Tennsco Community Center. Join the City of Dickson Police Department to celebrate and recognize Captain Owen’s many achievements!
