Started in 2018, Art in the Heart Dickson is an event that was founded by the Tennessee Downtown Dickson committee to promote the visual arts within Dickson County. For the last month, a special exhibit of student art – dubbed Art in the Heart, Jr. — has been on display at the Clement Railroad Museum. The work came from young artists from all over the county.

“Congratulations to the young artists who poured their hearts into their work,” said the event planning committee on Facebook. “Your passion and dedication shine through every brushstroke and every detail. It’s inspiring to see the future of the art scene in Middle Tennessee in such capable hands.”

Closing out the exhibit, County Mayor Rial presented the Mayor’s Choice Award and many members of Dickson County government came to support the display. The youth artwork is now being showcased at the Dickson County Library and Lifelong Learning Center, along with the work of local adult artists in preparation for the final Art in the Heart event on February 15.

On Thursday, February 15, all art will be moved to Events on Main, located at 105 South Main Street in Dickson, where it will be auctioned at the annual fundraiser known as Art in the Heart. At this event the adult artists will be celebrated, and Don L. Weiss, Jr., Mayor City of Dickson will present the Mayor’s Choice Award.

Currently, all art is on the event auction site. To look at all the pieces or to bid, visit https://givebutter.com/c/art2024/auction.

The Art in the Heart final event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end about 8:30 p.m at Events on Main. It is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted. Refreshments will be served. All proceeds from the auction will be used to promote art in Dickson County, including banners that hang in downtown Dickson to add color and interest.

The organization’s mission is to create awareness and appreciation of Art and Artist in Dickson. They are focused on public art, promoting the arts and arts preservation.
