While many see Las Delicias as an ice cream shop, they also offer an extensive menu of authentic Mexican food. Opened in 2019 by Norma Campa and Raul Sosa, they are still going strong, winning an award for Best Mexican Food in Dickson County by Mainstreet in 2022.

After working in other restaurants, it was a dream of Campa’s to open her own place. It was thanks to family and a lot of late, long days and nights that the dream was realized, and Campa is happy that the community has been so embracing of her vision.

Just about everyone who eats there, raves about the food, often saying that it is the best Mexican food to be had in Middle Tennessee. “Very authentic food,” said one reviewer. “We saw things on the menu that you normally only see in Mexico or somewhere like Texas or New Mexico.”

They have “standard” cheese dip for starters, but the Queso Fundido, Guacamole Delicias and Mexican Street Corn are good reasons to skip the standard and go for something a little different. The Guacamole Delicias is a fresh blend of avocado, pico de gallo, lime juice, steak strips and melty cheese all served with corn chips. The Mexican Street corn is a customer favorite that keeps bringing them back for more, again and again.

Tacos are a mainstay — cheese tacos, shrimp tacos, steak tacos, Tacos Alambre with steak chorizo and bacon, and Papa Tacos filled with potato, red cabbage and tomato for the non-meat eater, to name a few – but there is so much more. Many unique dishes can be found on the menu, like Birraramen. It is four quesobirras served with Tapatio Ramen. Tapatio Ramen gives a Hispanic kick to the basic ramen noodle.

Chimichangas, burritos, sopes, enchiladas, quesadillas, and nachos are available with many different toppings, but they also have Mexican pizza and tortas, which are like a sandwich. The Torta De Lomo is crammed with shredded pork, shredded cheese, grilled ham, mayonnaise, avocado, lettuce and tomato and then grilled so everything melts together like a panini without being squished.

Nachos Al Pastor gives the well-known dish a different twist with pulled pork, grilled pineapple, fresh onions, lots of gooey cheese and cilantro. Lettuce, tomato and sour cream can also be added.

A selection of dishes for non-meat eaters and kiddos is also available. For the child that doesn’t like Mexican food, there are the always popular chicken nuggets or corn dogs.

Make sure to leave lots of room for dessert. While they have homemade ice cream in a variety of American flavors, there are also lots of flavors that are popular in Mexico. But, it is the sundaes and shakes that blow it out of the park. They are huge!

Sweet Nachos hits the top of the list of customer favorites. It starts with crispy tortilla chips coated in cinnamon and sugar. They are topped with three scoops of ice cream which are drizzled with chocolate, vanilla and caramel topping. Next comes the fresh strawberries and M&M candies topped off with real whipped cream and finished off with cherries.

Prefer a shake? Customers rave about the Churro Shake. It is a caramel milkshake served with traditional Mexican Churro, caramel sauce and whipped cream.

Fruit is popular in Mexican ice cream, and here there is no exception. They have many fruit flavored paletas, fruit bowls and a Pina Colada Milkshake made with coconut, pineapple and strawberry syrup lathered in whipping cream. On the lighter side, Aguas Frescas are a refreshing beverage made of fruit, water, lime juice and sweetener.

Said another reviewer, “This food is AMAZING! I can’t stress it enough that if you have not been here YOU ARE MISSING OUT! Do yourself and your family a favor and go get some Mexican soul food followed by some seriously epic deserts! Not over exaggerating, I promise this is coming from a foodie herself.”

Located in Summit Plaza off Highway 46 South, the shop is bright and airy, painted with colorful murals of fantastical desserts and decorated with even more colorful furnishings.
