Local restaurant Luke’s Breakfast And Burgers will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants in mid-April 2023.

America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on April 19th. Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owner Luke Frost about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.

Frost, who grew up in Georgia, found his way to Tennessee after attending MTSU on a football scholarship. He never left, save for a stint in Mississippi working for Lowe’s. He purchased a bar/entertainment venue in the area, but admitted his focus was always on food. When the pandemic forced him to close, he pivoted to a to-go menu, which allowed him to not only stay in business but also “get his food out” to the community. Customer response was so strong, he was encouraged to open a restaurant.

Although he started with burgers – thick or smash style – adding breakfast to the menu proved to be a big hit.

“It was supposed to be a burger joint. And it is,” says Frost. “We just needed another breakfast place. So I did a little test and opened up a couple of weeks for breakfast. I do everything big, so we got the real thick omelets packed full of meats, the big burritos, the big fluffy pancakes, and it just really took off.”

All the burgers on the menu are named after family members. There’s The Jake, for his son, with Cajun seasoning, pepperjack cheese, and jalapeno ranch; and The Peach, for his daughter, with jalapenos and pepperjack cheese also. The Bulldawg Burger, with cheese, onion, pickle, tomato and lettuce is the number-one seller, according to Frost.

The restaurant’s logo, featuring a bulldog in a brown flat cap, is a nod to his father; “my best friend, an all-around awesome man. . . who when he wanted to, he could throw down in the kitchen,” notes Frost.

America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on Wednesday April 19th from 2 pm to 5 pm CST. Luke’s Breakfast and Burgers’ finished episode premiere date will be announced on their Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants’ website at https://americasbestrestaurants.com/rests/tennessee/lukes-breakfast-and-burgers.
