Andra Tez Jenkins Patton, age 75 of Dickson, TN, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025.
Born April 16, 1949, in Nashville, TN, Andra was the daughter of Lum Anderson Jenkins and Montez Bates Jenkins, who both preceded her in death.
Andra grew up in Denver, CO, where she graduated from George Washington High School in 1967. She completed Monticello College’s two-year academic program in Alton, IL, graduating in 1969, and continued her higher education studies at Denver University.
Andra worked as vice president and buyer at Cates First Avenue, a women’s fine apparel specialty store in Denver owned by Lum and Montez. In this role, she traveled extensively to New York, Paris, France, and Milan, Italy, to procure the latest fashions until the store closed.
In addition to travel buying for Cates First Avenue, Andra traveled extensively to Africa, Europe and other destinations as a member of a Denver travel club. She was an avid skier, golfer, collector, and exquisite needle pointer. After closing Cates First Avenue, Andra, Lum and Montez moved back home to Nashville where she was a devoted daughter and caregiver for her ailing father. She was always selfless when it came to taking care of others.
The family returned to Denver after a few years, where in addition to family responsibilities, Andra worked for a golf club in Denver where she managed special events. While working at the golf club, Andra met and then married the love of her life, Carl Houston Patton, on February 19, 2000. Marriage to Carl brought his daughter, Tracey Davies into her life.
Andra and Carl’s life together included years of annual fishing trips to Canada with Carl’s family. She proudly displayed her prized Pike on their living room wall as a reminder to Carl that she caught the biggest fish! They also enjoyed travel to NASCAR races, football games to support their beloved Steelers, and to sporting events to watch and support Carl’s extended family. Trips to Destin provided fishing and good times with family and friends. During this time, they moved from Denver to a farm in Burns, TN, they called “Lazy Acres” where they lived happily together until Carl passed away in 2018.
Andra will be remembered for her generosity, caregiving nature, loyalty, spunk, class, intellect, style, and beauty; she was truly a fighter. She was always willing to go the extra mile and she and her humor will be missed by her family and friends. She was the oldest of 29 Jenkins cousins, who lovingly refer to her as “the Godfather” of the cousins.
In addition to daughter, Tracey (Tom Paullet) of Pittsburgh, PA, Andra is survived by the Jenkins Family – four aunts, three uncles, 23 first cousins, numerous second and third cousins, plus additional Patton family, and fur babies Cali and Coco.
The family especially thanks Andra’s caregiver, Jamie Deaton, who supported her and became a loyal friend until the end.
A Graveside service will take place on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Jenkins Cemetery in Bon Aqua, TN. https://taylorsince1909.com
