Betty Jo Stewart Hughey was born March 7, 1936 and passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 28, 2022.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Ann Hughey of Nashville, Tennessee.
Betty was the daughter of H.H. and Pearl Stewart of Dickson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Hughey, her sisters Martha Lamastus and Margaret Stinson, and her parents, H.H. and Pearl Stewart.
Betty was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Dickson. In 1984 she earned the distinction of being the first female judge for a professional boxing match in Tennessee. She loved watching the deer, turkeys, and various other wildlife that inhabited her farm., Until her eyesight began to fail, Betty enjoyed tending to her flowers in her flower garden as well as reading.
The funeral and burial will be at Memorial Gardens in Dickson, Tennessee on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 beginning at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Humane Society of Dickson County.
