Funeral services will be Monday, September 20, 2021 at 11 AM from the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Jerry Smith officiating. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, September 19th from 4 to 8 PM with a Masonic service at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
Bobby O’Neal Curtis, age 85 of Burns, TN went to meet the Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.
He was born in Nashville, TN on August 4, 1936. He graduated from Hume Fogg High School in 1955 with a degree in drafting. He worked for the Ford Glass Plant for 38 ½ years as a mechanical engineer before retiring in 1995. While living in Nashville, he helped organize the Jess Neely football league and wad its first President. This league later became Jess Neely Junior Athletics Assn.
Bobby was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of F&AM Lodge 468 and also the Al Menah Shrine Temple. He has been an active member of the Dickson Co. Shrine Club since 1977 and served as the treasurer for many years. He also served on the Dickson County Board of Zoning Appeals for several years. Bobby attended Dickson Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Alfred Curtis and Mona Inez O’Neal Curtis, sister, Bettye Bell, and her spouse Harold Baker Bell, son, Danny O’Neal Curtis.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Sigler Curtis of Burns, TN; son, Pat Curtis of Burns, TN; sister, Beverly Kaye Wheeler of Pensacola, FL; 2 grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Hambalek, Benjamin O’Neal Blazer; 3 great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Hambalek, Edison O’Neal Hambalek, Ava Marie Blazer; several nieces, cousins, and other family members.
