Bobby Ray Petty of Dickson, TN, passed away on Wednesday, August 27th, at the age of 84. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, a coach to many, and a friend to everyone he knew. Born in Hickman County to the late Austin and Mattie Lorene Petty, Bobby was the second youngest of seven.
Bobby was an outstanding baseball player and went on to coach many Dickson County kids in the sport throughout his life. He was a loyal Tennessee Vols fan, had the greenest thumb, the quickest wit, and unending love for his family.
Bobby is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Virginia; his son-in-law, Walter Ferguson; and his six siblings.
He is survived by his children, Tina Ferguson and Tim Petty (LeAnn), granddaughter Jordan Kahn (Micah), great-granddaughters Ava and Clara Kahn, and many loved ones who carry his memory and legacy with them.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 12 PM from the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Baggett officiating. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 4 to 8 PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service. https://taylorsince1909.com
