Carey-Jerome-Thompson

Carey Jerome Thompson passed away Wednesday morning, December 11, 2024, at home in Dickson, after a 2-year battle with glioblastoma. He was 73 years old.

Carey was born January 19, 1951, son of Inez and LC (Mac) McMahan.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Thompson, his daughter Kate (Todd) Brison, his sister Andrea Bledsoe-Young (Steven) and nephew Zach (Jennifer) Bledsoe, his step-son Barrett (Sarah) Steward and their sons Jackson & Colin, and a wealth of extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-daughter Emily Steward.

Carey, a district attorney for the 23rd Judicial District, loved to live. He ran his first marathon at age 50 and progressed to full-distance Ironman competitions, remaining a triathlete throughout his life. He was a constant presence in community theater, spreading joy through a variety of characters. He was deeply involved in Dickson community life, serving on the board of the YMCA, The Renaissance Players, and as a trustee at First Presbyterian Church. He made friends with everyone he met… unless of course that person was a Tennessee Vols fan. Carey’s laugh filled every room, and you couldn’t help but smile any time you heard it.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon, December 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church in Dickson with Pastor John Smith officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday evening at Taylor Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday visitation will be at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of service. https://taylorsince1909.com

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to LLS (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society), the Arts Council of Dickson County or First Presbyterian Church-Dickson.
