Carol Rene Parker Sullivan, age 57, died at her home surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer.

She was born in Albany, Georgia and was the daughter of the late June Mallory Parker and Betty Joy Bridgeforth Pernell. She has been married to Nathan Sullivan for 33 years.

Carol’s first love was her family and friends. She showed a great love to her children and grandchildren. Her devotion to her family and friends was her first priority. Next to her family, she had an undying love for the Town of Burns, Tennessee. She gave over 34 years of service as the city recorder as well as wearing many other hats for the Town of Burns. She could often be referred to as the “Matriarch” of Burns, or even the “Queen” of Burns. She took pride in the day to day operations of the community. Carol was neighborly, hospitable, and brought JOY to everyone she met.

Carol loved the simple things in life that can tell a story about anyone. She loved her time at the river with family and friends; she loved the beach and all the peace she found there. While spending time on the water, one could find her fishing. She loved fishing whether she caught fish or not, whether she baited her hook or not, just enjoyed getting her line wet, she found fun. When she wasn’t fishing, you could find her crocheting on the pontoon.

She had a love for animals and gardening flowers and veggies. She loved getting her hands in the dirt. Carol loved to cook and was said to be “The Best Dog Gone Cook.” Her coconut cakes were known to start a few fights over getting the last piece.
