Charles McKinley “Chuck” Howard, age 86, peacefully passed from this life on March 23, 2024 at NHC, Dickson, Tennessee.
Chuck was born on February 20, 1938 to Eulas and Lillian Howard in Canton, North Carolina.
He loved his mountain home and called himself “The Mountain Man.” Chuck enjoyed nothing more than telling everyone tales about his mountain life. He never met a stranger, even after marrying his wife, Sue Lyle, and moving to Tennessee.
Chuck was a car lot “Wheeler Dealer,” a ginseng digger, a Rocky Top buck dancer, and Air Force Vet, and a friend to all law enforcement and military.
Chuck was first and foremost a family man. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a special cousin, Ron Howard.
As Chuck joins them in heaven, he leaves behind many relatives and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sue; his beloved son, Daniel L. Howard (Eleanor); brother, Jerry Howard (Diana); sister, Doris Pless (Charles); stepson, Gary Lyle (Denise); stepdaughter, Anita Fuson (Tommy); grandchildren, Addison Howard, Sophie Howard, Rainee, Callie, and Mordecai; step-grandchildren, Ricky Lyle (Candice), Corey Lyle (Whitney), Stephanie Scott (Andy), Michelle Carneal (Mike), Marshall Fuson (Miranda); a niece and three nephews, and ten step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on April 6, 2024 at 10 a.m. in the church that Chuck and Sue attended and loved so much, Rock Springs Freewill Baptist Church, 1485 Hamble Road, Charlotte, TN 37036. https://taylorsince1909.com
