Coy Reed Simmons, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Dickson, TN in the early morning hours of Friday, October 21, 2022.

Coy, known to others as Sore Toe, Red, Bud, and Big Pop, was born on January 10, 1931 in Anna, KY. He was the son of the late Will Simmons and Iva (Simmons) Gross.

Mr. Simmons spent many years traveling around the U.S. while working in the pipeline industry and in his later years owned a business, Simmons & Simmons, Inc. with his late son Clifford. Coy was a kind and gentle man that loved farming, fishing, and entertaining. He fed hundreds over the years with his fish frys, bar-b-ques, and famous gumbo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Simmons; sister Lucille Corum; his sons Coy Nesbitt Simmons and Clifford Reed Simmons.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his loving wife of 72 remarkable years, Anne (Nesbitt) Simmons; his sister Gloria (Hank) Cantrell of Bowling Green, KY; 5 grandchildren Aaron (Ann) Simmons, Cliff Simmons, Audra (Mike) Lastovka, Lydia (Adam) Smith, and Amanda Simmons; 7 great-grandchildren Paul Simmons, Karen Hastings, Rachel Simmons, Micah & Lake Lastovka, and Bruce IV & Karsen Peery.

Visitation to celebrate the life of Coy Simmons will be held at the Taylor Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct 23rd from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. http://taylorsince1909.com
