Dakota Lee “Coty” Scales, age 34 of Lyles, passed away on November 8, 2025. He was born on April 22, 1991, in Nashville to Danny Lee Scales and Angela Evans.
Coty was known for his devotion to his family. He was married to his wife, Katie, for over 10 years. He especially enjoyed being a father to his two sons, Dalton and Tyler. He worked in HVAC for Parker Engineering & Mechanical. He also loved being on two wheels, riding his Harley Davidson.
Survivors include his wife: Katie Brannon Scales of Lyles; his children: Dalton and Tyler Scales of Lyles; his father: Danny Scales (Melony) of Lyles; his mother: Angie Evans of Lebanon; his brothers: Danny Lee Scales II (Kimberly) of Bon Aqua, Matthew Scales of Nunnelly, Drew Scales and Connor Scales, both of Lyles; his sisters: Andrea Scales and Alicia Klingen (Scott), both also of Lyles; his grandparents: Donald and Joann Scales, and Brenda Crafton, all of Centerville. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Ralph Evans.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Don Smith officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, November 11, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
