Daniel Mark Gomaz, 76, of Charlotte, Tennessee passed away peacefully at his home on October 22, 2024 surrounded by his wife and eldest daughter.
Daniel was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin (his wife says that a yankee man is the best kind to get) and moved to the Tennessee area in the early 90’s with his wife.
Daniel had a career in truck driving for over 50 years. He started in the truck driving industry as owner operator and then onto 30 plus years with a large trucking company. After “retiring”, he started driving for a small company close to home. Daniel was a hardworking man that could not just sit in neutral, so retirement was not really his gig.
Daniel was a loving, kind and funny man who enjoyed life. Daniel could walk into the room, and you would immediately feel his presence. When he first moved to Nashville, he would go to the local bars, sit in the corner with his black cowboy hat on, and folks assumed he was ‘Someone’. He would tell them “I’m just Nobody.”
Here are a few quotes from his family and friends to give an idea of what kind of person Daniel was:
“Looks intimidating and sounds intimidating but his hugs were more gentle than anyone I know. He had a joke for everything and loved to get a laugh out of people. “
“He taught me a lot about life.”
“Daniel was such a genuine person.”
Daniel wasn’t afraid of anything and took a lot of risks. He loved fast cars, driving trucks, good food, and Jameson. His friends enjoyed long talks and the benefits of his wisdom. No matter the situation, Daniel knew when and how to hold his composure. He was a lady’s man, but his heart only belonged to one. He had a heart of gold but could be fierce if needed.
Daniel was preceded in death by his son (Daniel Jr.), father and mother (John and Muriel) and survived by his wife, Nancy Gomaz, siblings, John, Rena (Bob), Cerise (Richard), Rodell (John), Tami (Dean), Tanina (Dennis), and Sari (Pat), children, Karole, Scott, Matt (Biba), Brandy (Angelo), Jared (Debbi), Angie (Larry), 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
