Mr. Donald Gene Hayes, age 86, of White Bluff, TN, passed away on January 10, 2023 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
He was born, on September 30, 1936, in Swifton, AR to the late Jesse Hayes and Pearl Tatum Hayes.
He began working at the age of 16 to help take care of his family. He retired from being a welder at LTV Steel in East Chicago, IN, and also retired from working in the Maintenance division at Montgomery Bell State Park, in Burns, TN.
He was always known for being a hard worker and enjoying being outside. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Above all, he was a good man and good husband for 58 years. He was someone who was always willing to help others and was loved by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Joe Hayes, Freddy Hayes, Weindel Hayes, Garry Hayes, half-brother; Winfred Hayes, sister; Wavel Montgomery, and half-sister; Willie Hayes.
Survivors include his wife; Katherine (Kathy) Parker Hayes, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, January 13, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens with Pastor Wes Sesler officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at the Taylor Funeral Home prior to the service on Friday from 12:00-1:00 PM. http://taylorsince1909.com
