Dorothy Sue Heath Zwingle

Dorothy Sue Heath Zwingle, age 83 of Charlotte, TN died July 19, 2021, in her beloved Charlotte, Tennessee.

Mrs. Zwingle was born on June 18, 1938. Sue had a successful career as the Circuit Court Clerk of Dickson County, but her long and wonderful life is best described in two words: family and service. A caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, she exemplified what it means to be part of a loving and supportive family. She planned and cooked for holidays and reunions as well as Sunday dinners and she was legendary for her fried chicken, carrot cake, and award-winning chili.

Sue and Bobby Zwingle eloped in 1956, in Luka, Mississippi, and began a marriage that lasted almost 65 years. Their seven children experienced their mothers’ love through her actions. She was famous for giving them a stern look when one was warranted but equally famous for setting up the fancy punch bowl on the dining room table for an after-school snack. Sue served both her church and community in multiple capacities. She was a Sunday School teacher, Help Center volunteer, Girl Scout leader, and she worked for causes ranging from school fundraisers to Cancer Society auctions. Sue loved rocking on her front porch, visiting with family and friends, walking in her yard, and going for a drive in the country. She lived with a positive and joyful spirit. During her final years, Sue would often say, “I’ve had a GOOD life”, and she was right.
