Earl Wayne “Pop” Young, Sr., age 86, of Dickson, TN passed away peacefully June 17, 2025, at NHC of Dickson, TN.
Earl was born in Russellville, KY on August 15, 1938, to the late Georgia Mae Welch. He was married to Patricia “Pat” Thompson Young until her passing in 2001. He is remembered by many for owning the Chocolate Shop in the Dickson Plaza. He retired after working 32 years from Montgomery Bell State Park, where he was a mechanic supervisor. Most of all, he was known for being a very kind man and loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Katherine Ann Booker (Jonny), Lisa Michelle Young, Earl Wayne “Chip” Young Jr. (Sonya) his brother, Ken Madison, his grandchildren, Kelly Kimbro, Leslie Stamper (Brandon), Laurie Beth Booker (Darren), Jessie White (Daniel), Dylan Young (Kyla), Kelsey Garton (Gage), Matthew Conner Stewart (Camryn), Cameron Young (Autumn), Kylee Young, great-grandchildren, Travis (Emily), Matthew, Noah, Aubrey, Owen, Dalton, Amelia, Davis, Jameson, Annalee, Rhodes, Ridge, Raegan, and great-great grandchild, Kinley Jo.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Tommy Marvin will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday evening, June 20th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
