Frances Lucile (Lewis) Neuhoff, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024.
Lucile is survived by her three younger sisters: Nell Poole (Rodney), Bettie Wood (Woody), and Dunise Lewis. Along with her two step-children Gayle Isom (Sam) and John Neuhoff III (Ute), grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Lucile was preceded in death by her husband John Neuhoff Jr., her parents Paul and Ocie (Parker) Lewis, her niece Pamela Rogers, and her grandson John Cole Neuhoff.
Lucile was born on December 18, 1934 in Vanleer, TN. She graduated from Charlotte High School in 1955 and then St. Thomas School of Nursing in 1958. She dedicated over 40 years to her career as a cardiac nurse at St. Thomas, and two years of service as a missionary nurse in New Mexico. Her commitment to caring for others was a testament to her compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her family. She spent her 30s traveling to see her sisters and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She would fondly tell stories about driving them around naval bases or even just to the movies. She loved being Aunt Lucile.
After marrying John in 1982, she swiftly got a new role as “Gran”. She adored her grandchildren and would take any opportunity to watch them. She loved to take them on walks at Radnor Lake, teach them about birds, give them veggies from her garden, and document their childhood with 100s of photos.
Lucile was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church, but also an honorary Catholic between marrying into the Neuhoff family and working at St. Thomas. She cherished being active and fell in love with the trails of Radnor Lake in the 1980s. She spent the next 35 years walking the trails, especially her favorite Gainer Ridge. Her weekly updates were always about Radnor Lake, accidental hours on her exercise bike, and the veggies she had for dinner. To the shock of the family, she developed a sweet tooth in 2022 and declared Kroger chocolate chip cookies as her favorite snack.
Lucile’s life was a tapestry of love, service, and family. As we remember Lucile, we celebrate a life well-lived, just shy of her 90th birthday, a milestone she had hoped to reach.
A memorial will be planned at a later date in 2025. https://taylorsince1909.com
