George Bernard Rung, Jr. age 68 of Dickson, passed away on August 5, 2021, at Centennial Medical Center after a short stay.
He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 9, 1953, to the late George Bernard Sr. and June Wilson Rung. He worked at True Value and Ace Hardware, as well as Lowe’s for many years. George was a helper. He was the “go to guy” whenever anyone needed to find something which made his career choice perfect for him. He loved to fish and would go on many excursions with friends. He frequented many local restaurants for food and fellowship which made him a favorite guest to all. He was an avid collector of civil war memorabilia and traditional art and loved to share his vast knowledge of both to his friends. George was well-liked in his circle but more than that, he was a friend to everyone, and he was loving called “Mr. George”. He will be missed terribly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn “Kitty” Colvin Rung.
Survivors include his stepchildren: Chris Colvin (Charlene) of Dickson and Margaret Ann Colvin (Marty Jamison) of McEwen; several step-grandchildren; and many friends and extended family members.
