Hubert Forkum, Jr, 90, of White Bluff, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. He was two days shy of his ninety-first birthday.

Hubert is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Betty Adams Forkum and four children, Mike Forkum, Mark Forkum and wife Sasha, Steve Forkum and Laura Forkum Crowe and her husband Donald, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Hubert Forkum, Jr lived in his home until his passing.

Hubert Forkum Jr is the second youngest of eight siblings born to Hubert Forkum, Sr and Clara Settles. Hubert is the last of his siblings to pass away.

Hubert Forkum, Jr was born and raised in Gainesboro, TN in Jackson County. He graduated from Jackson County High School in 1952.

Immediately after graduating high school, Hubert enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his service to the United States, Hubert spent eleven months and sixteen days in a combat zone in Korea assigned to the 805th Operations Squadron. Hubert earned the following commendations: Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.

In 1955 Hubert Forkum, Jr was transferred to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. There he met Betty Adams. On November 24, 1955, they were married in Louisiana.

Hubert and Betty Forkum moved to Nashville in 1956. Their union brought forth four children: Mike Forkum of White Bluff, Mark Forkum (Sasha) of Phoenix, AZ, Steve Forkum of Bolivar, and Laura Forkum Crowe (Don) of Memphis.

Hubert and Betty have six grandsons, two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

In 1966 Hubert and Betty moved to White Bluff and remained in the same house until his death.

Hubert Forkum, Jr professed his faith in Jesus while living in Nashville. Hubert and Betty are members of the White Bluff Church of Christ and have worshipped there for over 58 years.

In 1957 Hubert Forkum, Jr went to work at Ford Motor Company in Nashville. Hubert worked in various manufacturing capacities at the facility. Hubert worked for Ford for thirty-five years and retired in 1993.

Hubert Forkum, Jr had several hobbies during his life including family and traveling. Most notably he was a private pilot. Hubert flew and owned planes for over fifty years. He relished taking family and friends on plane rides throughout Tennessee. The trips often included stops at restaurants.

Hubert’s passion for serving the Lord and doing God’s work will be remembered by all that knew him. He truly enjoyed helping others and doing volunteer work.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Bro. Doug Couch will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
