JoAnn Rainey Buttrey, 68 years old, of Vanleer, TN, passed away July 27, 2024, at TriStar Horizon Medical Center.
JoAnn was born January 19, 1956, in Nashville, TN to the late William Joseph and Ann (Bradley) Rainey.
She was known to everyone as “Nanny.” She loved her babies and enjoyed attending ballgames in support of them. She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays, and being a big sister. She is a Dickson County High School alumni. She was an over the road truck driver and worked formerly at Aladdin Industries on the assembly line. Her favorite color was purple. JoAnn found joy in gardening, cooking, dancing, Gulf Shores, and taking care of others.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Mestas; brother, Andy Rainey; nephew, Michael Rainey; special fur babies, Princess and Pookie; paternal and maternal grandparents, as well as several aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tracy (Shawn) Chester; grandsons, Kyle (Carrie) Iles and Aaron Chester; granddaughter, Nichole Iles; baby brother, William Rainey, Sr.; nieces, Jessica (Bobby) Bishop and Stephanie (Kaleib) Miller; nephew, William Rainey, Jr.; great-grandbabies, Keyton Iles, Joseph Iles, and Bryce Iles; great-nieces and nephews, Kurtis, Makayla, Lailah, Bradley, Braxton, and Desi; granddog, Tucker; and so many more family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Gathering with the family will be Friday, August 2, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8;00 p.m. at Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center. https://www.dicksonfuneralhome.com
