Karen Lillian Mitchell, best known as “Kitty”, age 75, passed to her Heavenly home on May 13, 2024, at NHC of Dickson.

Ms. Kitty was born on January 28, 1949, in Detroit, MI, to Joseph E. Smith and Southey Stanley Smith.

Ms. Kitty had a very loving and caring spirit, with a big personality to go with it. She loved music of all kinds, but her most favorite was gospel hymns and songs she would sing in church. It was amazing how Ms. Kitty might not know your name or could not carry on a conversation because of memory loss, but she never forgot the words to songs that meant so much to her. She had a beautiful voice and if you ever heard her sing you would agree.

Kitty had a heart of gold when it came to caring for the sick and elderly. She worked as a CAN for several years at the Michigan Masonic Home in Alma, MI, in her early years of life. Later in life, she and her husband, David, moved to Dickson, TN, where she worked from 1998 to 2010, as the secretary for the mayor of Dickson County. After retiring from that job, she worked at NHC as a personal caregiver for several years.

Kitty was preceded in death by both parents; Joseph & Southey Smith, brother; Ronald J. Smith, and the love of her life; David Lee Mitchell.

Survivors include two step-daughters; Kristine Mitchell Tolbert of KY, Kimberly Mitchell of MI, and two step-grandchildren; David Simeone & Lauren Mitchell.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 3 pm at Bethel Baptist Church in Dickson, TN. https://taylorsince1909.com
