Linda Kay Toler Clater left this life on Saturday, October 28 at the age of 79.

Linda was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on January 25, 1944 to Dorothy Elaine Devert Toler and John H. Toler. She was the oldest of four children.

Following World War II, the family resided in Virginia. While there, Linda participated in competitive swimming and qualified for the Junior Olympics. She also began riding horses and fox hunted with the Casanova Hunt.

After graduation, she enrolled in a nursing program at Rockingham Memorial Hospital and took academic classes at James Madison University.

After marrying her high school sweetheart, Jefferson Clater, she began a twenty year journey as an Army wife. Through many duty stations and hardship tours, Linda was a dedicated spouse and mother providing a sense of home and stability for her family.

In 1984, the family settled in Burns, Tennessee where Linda cared for her horses, cats, and dogs. She was an active member of Dickson First Methodist Church and enjoyed participating in the Mary Martha Circle and acting as treasurer for her Sunday school class.

Linda is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jefferson Clater, a son Thomas and his wife Rhonda, and two daughters, Christine and her husband Brian, and Elisabeth and her husband Anthony; her beloved grandchildren: Karrie Clater, Rachel Clater, Sarah Noble (Christian), Catherine Roszak Davenport (Michael), Carly Roszak, Luke Kolznak (Kylie), and Ryan Kolznak (Kelsey); two great-grandchildren, and her brothers John Toler (Linda) and James (Patty).

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Ed White officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Middle TN State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville. The family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service also at the funeral home. https://taylorsince1909.com
