Michael Ford Lampley left this world on May 7th, 2025 for his heavenly home.
Mike was born November 28th, 1944 in Dickson, Tennessee as one of ten children to the late Harlon and Ora Lampley.
Mike was an outstanding student athlete, playing football, basketball, and baseball as well as graduating Valedictorian of his high school class in 1962. After high school, he attended Sewanee University on a full academic scholarship. While at Sewanee he was editor of the school newspaper and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and served as fraternity President in 1965. He graduated with honors in 1966. Mike then went on to earn his MBA from Emory University in Atlanta and graduated with honors in 1968. After Emory, he earned his CPA and began working for Ernst & Young in Atlanta where over his 30 year career he worked his way to partner before retiring in 2000 in Washington, DC.
In addition to all of Mike’s many accomplishments and successes, he was a huge Atlanta Braves and Washington Redskins fan, as well as an avid golfer until a hip replacement caused him to give up the game in 2010. For those that knew him, Mike had a quick wit, fantastic sense of humor, and could converse with anyone.
Mike leaves behind his son’s Jimmy and Sean Lampley. His grandchildren Samantha Lampley, Alyssa Lampley, Jimmy Lampley, Isla Lampley and Kimberly Lampley. As well as, his ex-wife, Brenda Lampley, who even after 20 years divorced, took care of him the final 8 months of his life in Myrtle Beach, SC. Mike was the last surviving child of Harlon and Ora Lampley, but leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who he held dear to his heart.
The entire family will greatly miss Mike’s generosity, guidance, and unwavering support.
A graveside memorial service will be held Monday, June 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Dickson County Memorial Gardens. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend. https://taylorsince1909.com
