Michael “Mike” Leonard Pate, age 89, passed away on January 12, 2026, in the comfort of his home in Westport, Tennessee, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on April 9, 1936, in Vanleer, Tennessee, to the late Mattie and Ellis Pate.
Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Pate; his children Dennis (Donna), Dwayne (Brooke), and David (Allison); his grandchildren Michael, Brittany, Trisha, Juno, and Ruthie; his great-grandchildren, RJ, Lauren, Jenna, Emma, and Nora; his great-great-grandchildren, Addie, Marleigh, and Willow; and his brother Waylun (Martha) Pate. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lyndon “Buddy” Pate.
He was a member of the Westport Church of Christ at Westport, Tennessee. Mike loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed bird and deer hunting. He was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union, a reflection of his strong work ethic and dedication. Those who knew him will remember him as a steady, loving presence who valued family, tradition, and the simple joys of life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Visitation and Funeral services will be at Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Visitation and Funeral services will be Thursday, January 15, 2026, with visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service at 2:00 P.M. Funeral services will be in the Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Dickson, TN.
