Nancy Eloise Kennon, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, humor, and humble service.
Born on March 17, 1943, in Humboldt, TN, to John and Mildred Williams, Nancy spent her life sowing seeds of kindness and laughter wherever she went. Her infectious humor, radiant smile, and boundless compassion touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Nancy’s love for her family was rivaled only by her devotion to her faith. She gave her life to Christ at Antioch Baptist Church in her birthplace of Humboldt, TN, and continued to serve the Lord at Maplewood Baptist Church in Paris, TN, and later at Wards Grove Baptist Church in Lexington, TN. As a testament to her faith, she lived out the verse from the Book of Proverbs 31:26, “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”
An outstanding cafeteria manager with the Board of Education in Madison County, TN until her retirement, Nancy was a gifted cook who loved to feed everyone around her. Whether cooking for Lions Club events, church camps, or just a family dinner, Nancy’s culinary skills were renowned. Her witty and funny personality was the secret ingredient that made every dish taste better. She also had a special knack for gardening, her green thumb a testament to her love for nature and her upbringing on a farm. Including her visits to The Great Smokey Mountains, her favorite summer vacation spot.
A lifelong resident of Tennessee, Nancy spent her teenage years in Paris, TN, where she started her family. Later, she moved to White Bluff, TN, where she continued to share her love, wisdom, and humor with all who knew her. Nancy’s home was always filled with laughter, especially when her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren were around. She was known for her goofy and fun sense of humor, and she never missed a chance to bring a smile to someone’s face. Her love for yard sales was another charming aspect of her unique personality.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at NHC in Dickson, TN for their unwavering love and support during Nancy’s stay.
In the words of Timothy 1:7, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control,” Nancy lived her life with a spirit full of love, humor, and resilience. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone she touched. We invite you to leave your special memories of Nancy and upload photos to the memorial page, to celebrate and remember this extraordinary woman who was such an integral part of our lives.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 4 – 7 PM at the Antioch Baptist Church in Humboldt, TN with Larry Harper officiating.
