Opal Virginia Richardson East, age 102, of Mesa, AZ, passed from this earth on October 3, 2025.
Opal was born on March 18, 1923, in Sylvia, TN, to the late Arthur Herman Richardson and Dovie Louvina Richardson. Opal was one of eleven children and was blessed with the loving influence and guidance of her parents, who taught her the Bible and a love of the Lord. Opal was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where she met and later married Thomas East on November 22, 1963.
Eventually, they would make the move to Mesa, Arizona, where they placed membership in the Mesa Church of Christ. Opal worshipped and served the Lord, whom she loved dearly. She was always looking for an opportunity to do good to others, whether she was sewing garments to donate to those in need or delivering bread and so forth to the hungry. She was always ready to serve.
She is survived by one sister, Evan Elizabeth (Richardson) Bailey, her husband, Clifford Bailey of McPherson, Kansas, one sister in law, Betty Richardson of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and one brother in law, Clarence Erwin of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly, but we know from her obedience of God’s Holy Word, she is now in Heaven with God, her husband Tom, and her family that has gone on before.
