Peter Stephen “Zeke” Dawson, age 84, of Dickson, TN, passed away on November 11, 2024.
“Zeke” was born on June 1, 1940, in Prince George’s County, Maryland to the late Robert Dawson and Margaret Morgan Dawson.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Music was his life. He started playing professionally at the age of 12 and played in 48 of 50 states and 7 foreign countries. He wrote music for movies, starred in the Coal Miner’s Daughter, played for presidents and loved being on stage performing. He played with the Grand Ole Opry and many singers, including George Jones, Loretta Lynn and many others. He was the type of man that never met a stranger anywhere he traveled and always had a good story to tell.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister; Priscilla Kingston.
Survivors include his wife; Rebecca Story Dawson of Dickson, TN, his son; Brendan Dawson (Michela Rondella) of Germany, his daughter Karen Cox of Hendersonville, TN, his brother; Phillip Dawson (Lorraine) of Maryland, his sister; Prudence Dawson of Maryland, grandchildren; Neal Cox, Lauren Randolph (Chris), Jordan Bailey, and great-grandson; Dawson Alderidge.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 4 PM until 8 PM at the Taylor Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will be held at the Middle TN Veterans Cemetery. https://taylorsince1909.com
