Mr. Richard Candler Gammel, age 84, of Dickson, TN, formerly of Nashville, TN died July 5, 2022 at Tri-Star Horizon Medical Center.
He was born January 8, 1938 in Nashville, TN to the late Marion Tanksley Gammel and Dr. Zeke C. Gammel.
He was raised in Old Hickory, TN, graduating from DuPont High School. He attended Emory University, transferred to the University of Tennessee, graduated with a degree in business, and was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
Richard immediately went to work for Third National Bank, later SunTrust Bank, working there for over 40 years before retiring as a trust officer.
Richard was a kind, compassionate southern gentleman, always opening doors for every woman and flirting with every waitress. He loved playing golf with friends, lunches and occasional trips to Tunica. He also was an avid University of Tennessee fan, enjoying the Big Orange football games for many years.
He is survived by his sister; Marilyn G. Hayes (Phil), several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and a great-nephew.
Private prayer services are to be held for Mr. Richard Candler Gammel.
Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of Dickson County or to the First Presbyterian Church of Dickson.
