Robert Merle Drinkard, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away June 23, 2025, at TriStar Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, TN. He was born on September 18, 1949, in Huntingdon, TN, to the late Cortez and Arabia (Butler) Drinkard.
Robert’s journey through life was shared with his loving wife of 31 years, Evelyn Drinkard; daughters, Lisa (Tim) Moss and Angie (Ricky) Anderson; bonus children, April (Trent) Mangrum and Derek (Lucinda) Bishop; grandchildren, Dylan (Aspen) Anderson, Rian (Jake) Fullington, Savanna Presson, Bella Moss, Hunter Sherwood, Harleigh Sherwood, and Connor Bishop; great-grandchildren, Weslyn, Olive, Magnolia Anderson, and Everett Swaw; and siblings, Sue (Danny) Kirkwood, Ricky (Phyllis) Drinkard, and Robin (Jean) Drinkard.
Robert proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army before embarking on a career as a truck driver, a job that allowed him to explore the country he loved. An avid fisherman and grill master, Robert found solace and joy in the simplicity of nature and the pleasure of a well-cooked meal.
His social nature shone through in his love of playing cards and his penchant for delivering homegrown vegetables to his neighbors. Robert’s heart was as open as his door, and he became a beloved figure in his community, known for feeding the neighborhood dogs and never missing an opportunity to share a joke or a smile.
He was a man who never met a stranger, treating everyone he encountered with respect and kindness. His caring nature was complemented by his directness and his ability to be both loving and a big joker, making every moment with him memorable and full of laughter. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and memories shared by his beloved family and friends.
Visitation and funeral services will be Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Tim Moss officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at the funeral home website.
