Ronnie Smith, affectionately known to many as “Rocky Top,” passed away in a tragic car wreck on September 26, 2024, in Hoover, Alabama.
He was born on November 22, 1957, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Ronnie was a shining light and was a truly a happy-go-lucky spirit, always wearing a smile that could light up the darkest of days with a heart of gold. Ronnie never hurt a soul and was a friend to all who crossed his path.
Preceded in death by his parents Classie and Lillian Smith.
Survived by his sisters Wanda Smith and Minnie Abston as well as numerous friends and loved ones.
A West Nashville legend, Ronnie found joy in his hobby of singing, “Rocky Top”. It’s hard to imagine West Nashville without him singing his favorite song that brought so much happiness to his friends and his community.
Rocky Top’s family remembers him not only for his great personality and infectious smile but also for his kindness and generosity. While he may have departed from this world, his legacy of joy, love, and musical talent will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to walk alongside him in life.
The spirit of Ronnie “Rocky Top” Smith will continue to inspire all, reminding us to embrace each moment with laughter, to share our love freely, and to live life to the fullest, just as he did. His memory will be treasured, and his legacy will live on in the stories and songs sung in his honor.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 9:30 am ~ 1:30 pm with a Celebration of Life at 1:30 pm and the burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. https://www.harpethhills.com
