Russell Dean “Rusty” Overton, age 65, of Dickson, TN, passed from this life on August 13, 2023, at Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville.
He was born on April 14, 1958, to the late George Eugene Overton, Sr., and the late Laura Dell Fossie Blue.
Rusty retired from Ford Glass Plant after many years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Sheila Martin Overton; his brother: George Eugene Overton, Jr.; his sister: Bettina Ann Overton; and his stepfather: Robert I. Blue, Sr.
Survivors include his brothers: Benny Overton of Dickson, Robert Blue, Jr. (Anita) of Clarksville, and Randy Blue (Sylvia) of Brentwood; his sisters: Lori Tyson (Darrel) and Pastor Cecilia Grimsley, both of Dickson; his fiancé: Dwan Nelson of Dickson; his aunts: Delois Fossie of Dickson and Bettie Robertson of Columbus, OH; his uncle: Marvin Fossie of Dickson; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
Near and dear to his heart as well were special friends and co-workers from United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 737, Ford Glass Plant, Nashville, TN.
Homegoing services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 21, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of service.
